​LC-MI-2401 Training Description
This training is open for League Cadet Petty Officer to apply for a staff cadet position if you have completed NLO and are a current Petty Officer.
​** THIS TRAINING IS NOT NLO*** Navy League Orientation Advanced is a Leadership Academy (Navy League POLA) training for cadets who have completed NLO already.
  This training prepares cadets with the fundamentals of leadership at the League Cadet level. The focus is on leadership, teambuilding, and preparing cadets to take on leadership roles within their units, trainings, and even help them prepare to be a leader in the Sea Cadets at the more junior ranks.
  This training will push cadets to their personal limits and beyond as they explore the Navy League Cadet Corps as a Senior League Cadet. Cadets in this training will also have the opportunity to work side by side with other Sea Cadet and League Cadet trainings, giving them an idea of real-world leadership application and a chance to explore other training opportunities.  
Cadets must fill out the Pretty Lake Medical form, Upload the form to Magellan, print it off and bring it with their travel orders to be able to participate in the rope's course. No Form No Go.
Both leadership trainings must fill out the Medical Form in order to participate in the Adventure Centre Program.
Wear closed toe shoes. Dress comfortably for lots of activity and movement. Dress appropriately for the weather.
Your program includes at least one activity that requires helmets to be worn by all participants and spectators.
If you have long or very thick hair, please wear it in a low ponytail or bun to allow for a properly fitting helmet.
Bring anything you think you will need to be comfortable in the woods for an extended period: Cover, Sunscreen,
Bug spray, Refillable water bottle.
Those who have EpiPens, inhalers, or any other emergency medication should keep them on their person. We will ask where they can be found in the event of an emergency.
NP-MI-2401 Leadership, Petty Officer Academy, (POLA)
​Training content will focus on the responsibilities a Petty Officer can expect to have as they prepare for leadership roles within their home unit. The training environment will be structured to allow participants to become familiar with the responsibilities of a Petty Officer, managing multiple cadets in various settings and roles, and learning to manage their own time towards the completion of tasks.
The primary assessment method throughout the training will be observational, rather than academic, i.e. cadets will be assessed on their ability to perform the tasks of a Petty Officer and not limited to their ability to complete written tests. All skills required to successfully complete the drill evolutions will be provided during the training. Cadets are expected to have a working knowledge of correct drill commands prior to arrival. A cadet must achieve a passing score on all evolution assessments, or a subsequent retest, to graduate from the training.
