Preparation is the key to training at Navy League Orientation.  Use this formula for ultimate mission success.
90% preparation + 10% execution = 100% success.
In other words.. 90% of prep is on the front end.

  • Letters from Home give a big boost to cadets as they endure the demanding schedule at NLO.
  • Letters can be dropped off on In-Take day. Address them as in the above example and dates in the order to be delivered in the upper left corner.
  • Inspect your uniforms regularly.  Be "picky" about them.  NLO is an unique environment where everything matters.  Pay particular attention to your dress uniform.  You will be photographed in this uniform and more importantly you will graduate in this uniform.  Be sure your "White Hat" is clean and bright white.  Learn how to fold your uniforms into your seabag correctly.
PACKING TIPS: To speed up seabag inspection during In-Take Day place like items into zip lock bags and label contents and  amount on outside of the bag.  For example all t-shirts into one bag, label it 7 coyote brown shirts, 1 white shirt.

Coyote brown t-shirts are available on Amazon by Soffe.

Update to the Seabag List - A blanket will be provided for use during the training. No need to bring one.

Haircuts

All male recruits are required to have a #1 all around hair cut prior to In-Take day. You will be sent to a local barber shop if you show up without the proper haircut. Don't be that cadet.
